Entropy Needs No Fuel

That new car smell always fades
exits through the powered windows
past the perfectly positioned windshield
out over the sparkling hood

which you wish would blind you,
pull a hood over your head
so you can’t see everything
go downhill.

Even Moses had his veil
and you need something
to keep yourself from yourself
and the traffic jam of thoughts

lining up, reminding you
that no one gets out of this alive,
no thing is the one thing
you can ride forever.

But you’ve got these wheels
and they’re still moving.
So crank up those tunes,
drive hard down the hill.

Who knows, you may just catch
the shimmer of his spoiler
taking the next curve, reflecting
those last beams of the fading sun.
